UI/UX Designer at Glassdoor

e are looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our growing product and development team. You will work closely with experienced designers, developers and product managers to take the Glassdoor product to the next level. We offer a highly competitive compensation package including equity in this early-stage startup. Estimated salary range of $75-90K, based on experience. Glassdoor is an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities include

  • creation of designs that address user needs, product, business, brand, and marketing requirements
  • participate and collaborate on concept development and design ideation
  • creation of page layouts/UIs, wireframes, system flows, prototypes, color palettes, typography, iconography and final production assets, design QA
  • collaboration with development teams to ensure designs are implemented to spec
  • ability to communicate your design thinking in a way that works for all the parties involved (designers, engineers, product managers, etc.) through appropriately detailed specs and reviews

Big Pluses

  • experience working in an Agile environment
  • academic background in human factors/ergonomics, cognitive science, psychology or HCI
  • design experience in mobile or desktop software
  • experience creating or maintaining interface guidelines in a software development environment
  • experience creating print and brand/marketing materials
  • experience facilitating or running user research studies

Specific Skills

  • ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment – you can change direction quickly and learn new skills as needed
  • ability to own and collaborate on projects
  • strong interaction design skills: wireframes, site/system flows, site architecture diagrams, prototypes, etc. for RIAs/software
  • strong visual design skills: layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, patterns, etc.
  • a solid understanding of ucd principles with the ability to address complex problems and provide sound design solutions
  • the ability to quickly understand the constraints of a design problem and identify the tradeoffs
  • a good all-rounder, informed by thoughtful consideration around the philosophical and practical considerations that make great design
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in a design related field
  • 4+ year’s experience as a key member of a web/software product design team
  • a solid understanding of web technologies (CSS, XHTML, DHTML, Javascript/AJAX, etc.)
