Senior UX/IA, Los Angeles

Filter is looking for a Sr. UX/IA to join our LA area team creating tremendous interactive experiences every day. This is a contract-to-hire position where you’ll be responsible for developing IA documentation to support site strategy, brand strategy, and desired user behaviors. You’ll be collaborating with a smorgasbord of titles throughout a company that boasts a great team environment with very hip, fun office spaces (including fitness classes!)

This is a high-profile gig where your thought leadership of user-centered design processes and interaction design principles will be crucial to your success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Aligning business requirements, user centered design methodology and technology factors to create low and high fidelity interactive prototypes for the purposes of validating business requirements and supporting usability testing
  • Translating business and user requirements into meaningful interactive experiences
  • Creating and refining user experience deliverables, such as task and gap analyses, feature/functionality matrices, usage scenarios, site maps, flow diagrams and wireframes
  • Identifying and documenting meaningful patterns from the user research; provide recommendations to the internal teams based on findings
  • Conducting and analyze stakeholder interviews to understand key success factors for a project or pursuit
  • Leading participatory user experience brainstorm sessions
  • Conducting competitive audits and participating user research, concept testing, usability testing, and market research
  • Leading development of personas/segmentations based on research findings; integrating personas/segmentations with related deliverables such as opportunity maps and wireframes
  • Identifying opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience
  • Presenting concepts to stakeholders with research and best practice annotations
  • Advocating for the customer, with a strong understanding of user-centered design

Skills You’ll Need

  • Full understanding of how to apply the methodologies of interaction design to product development
  • User centric thought leader, good understanding of brand, online strategy
  • Must be process driven, possess strong interaction design skills and show careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to develop big ideas, and execute them flawlessly in a highly collaborative environment
  • Working understanding of SEO principles
  • Demonstrated ability to document work in a very thorough, clean, and concise way using industry standard tools (Omnigraffle, Axure, or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data via Omniture SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and strong desire to design a simple and intuitive user experience
  • Prior experience in a consulting firm or agency preferred, prior experience in UI design for mobile devices a plus
  • Candidates should have 3+ years of industry experience as an information architect, interaction designer or experience designer
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in design-related discipline: Interaction, Information or Interface design; Human-Computer Interaction; Design Planning; Graphic Design; Communications
